[BLOOM]

[Feature Film]

Pre-Production - Bloom is an intimate coming-of-age story told from the interior perspective of a child growing up inside silence.

Bloom is a nine-year-old girl living in the United States with her father after the death of her mother, a Russian immigrant whose presence survives only through fragments — gestures, sound, and unfinished memories. Raised in a working-class household shaped by restraint and unspoken grief, Bloom learns early how to listen to what is never said. She absorbs loss not through language, but through the body.

When Bloom discovers classical piano music, she begins composing on a piano made of cardboard. What appears to be imagination or talent is, for Bloom, an act of translation — a way to access memories she does not fully understand and a past that lives inside her without explanation. Music becomes her private language, a space where grief, inheritance, and longing quietly converge.

Directed by Daniel Gonzalez
